New sign along Langport Road has been put up today.

Comment on Facebook

Why are all the comments so negative? The council are clearly trying to improve the situation.

Need more than a sign clearly the one above doesn’t work. It needs traffic calming measures entering the 30mph limit

Why can't we adopt the traffic light system that is common in France and other European countries. A set of traffic lights with speed sensors; when a vehicle approaches travelling above 30mph the lights change to red. Cameras on the lights record anyone that jumps the red light and a £100 fine and 3 points follow. Self financing and safe. No need for traffic calming chicanes, rumble strips or speed bumps. Simple.

Is it a road. More like a racing track.

Is there any evidence to show that putting Please Drive Carefully on road signs alters the speed of vehicles?

Well we have the Speed Indicator Device, the Police sign and the Police actively using their new equipment to catch and punish speeders where we have Speedwatch. What we need is more volunteers to join the Speedwatch and a speed camera just a few yards further on. But that is an issue for Avon & Somerset.

If your interested here is the data of the actual speeds recorded for the 30mph on Langport road.......https://www.pf-stc.uk/download/langport-rd-25th-july-4th-august.pdf

They could have given the top one a clean whilst they were there, or is that another department all together.

No one does 30 along there

Very impressive. Not so brilliant here in South Devon, where recycling is limited and rarely collected on the due date (fortnightly) and sometimes never actually picked up.

It would be amazing if it was actually collected!!

Thursday collections started this month both dates missed & still waiting for collection from last Thursday. Very poor service which is not being delivered. Such a fundamental change to collections should not gave happened until staff resources were in place. Customers are expected to take recycling to a recycling centre (not open in Somerton on Mondays or tuesdays) or wait until the following week's collection. The council tax we pay is high & the service poor.
