Somerton Library closed during lockdown

From 6 January, in line with government guidance regarding the Coronavirus National Lockdown, Somerton Library was closed and will remain closed until further notice.

Any items out on loan will have their due dates extended automatically.

Bridgwater, Frome, Taunton, and Yeovil libraries are providing a limited service.  While browsing is not currently possible, the popular Library Choice Service and the Reservation Service for specific requests will continue to be available.  These 4 libraries also provide public access computers free of charge for essential internet access. Opening hours are as follows:

Yeovil and Frome – 10 am to 2 pm (Monday to Saturday),

Taunton and Bridgwater – 9.30 am to 1.30 pm (Monday to Saturday).

The Library Choice Service enables you to request up to ten books hand-picked by a member of staff based on your favourite genres or authors.  Simply complete the request form on the Somerset Libraries website, or in person at the library, and staff will be in touch about your selections.  Or, if you wish to borrow a particular title, you can use the reservation system on your account’s via  Charges apply and you will be notified by email, SMS or letter when your item is available.

You can still join and use the library online, it’s quicker and easier than ever.  Library membership gives you access to a huge range of online content, 1,000’s of downloadable books, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers and comics – free of charge.

Many online resources are also available for you to access from home as well as in the library.  Access to home access to Ancestry to research your family history has been extended to 31 March 2021.
